🐻 Bear strolls past Glendora strip mallThe Gist: A large mountain bear gave locals quite a surprise when it casually strolled past Alur Studios and a nearby gas station around 2 p.m. during this week's extreme heat. Local stylist Jessica Ruiz caught sight of the animal from inside her salon, while barber Nino Saunders watched as it sprinted past shoppers hiding indoors. Why It Matters: Our mountain neighbors are wandering closer to town to beat the heat, making it a good time for everyone to stay alert. If you happen to spot a bear cooling off near your favorite local shops, stay safe by making yourself look big, backing away slowly, and calling 911 right away.
🚲 A 1.6-mile trail next to San Dimas WashThe Gist: San Gabriel Valley officials broke ground on a new 1.6-mile multi-use trail stretching along the San Dimas Wash from Sunflower Avenue and Gladstone Street to Grand Avenue and Arrow Highway. The $1.2-million path will feature a fully separated route for pedestrians and cyclists, lined with native landscaping, shade structures, and crossings. Why It Matters: This is the first piece of a planned 10-mile trail network connecting local neighborhoods, schools, and Glendora Village straight to the A Line's Glendora Station. It offers locals a safer, prettier, and simpler way to commute or enjoy a quick outdoor walk without getting in a car.
