Some weeks the biggest news is loud. This week it's quiet, the kind of progress you only notice if you're paying attention.

We're following a milestone that's been inching along for years, spotlighting an artist whose influence on Claremont runs deeper than most people realize, and rounding up a couple of local favorites, one for late-night cravings, one for anxious pups who need a gentle touch.

Let's dig in.

⛳ Community Cause

Your Foursome Could Help Restore a Marriage This December.

For Freedom Outreach's 3rd Annual Golf Tournament tees off at Red Hill Country Club on December 7. It's their only fundraiser of the year, with a goal of $125,000 to fund couples camps, scholarships for men in need, training camps, and new RGM Book Studies restoring generational masculinity across the community.

🚆 A Line extension design moves ahead

The Gist: The 2.3-mile A Line extension from Pomona to Claremont is moving through its design phase, with crews surveying the rail corridor and collecting information on utilities, drainage and other site conditions.

Why It Matters: If you live along the route or have been waiting for the A Line to reach Claremont, this is one of those behind-the-scenes steps that brings the project a little closer to reality. The design is expected to reach 60% in January 2027, with more design work still ahead before construction can begin.

🎨 Samella Lewis exhibition opens in Claremont

The Gist: The Claremont Lewis Museum of Art will showcase the life and work of Dr. Samella Lewis in Samella! Black as Lacquer and Iron, opening Aug. 15 and running through Nov. 15. The exhibition features Lewis' own drawings and prints alongside work by artists she mentored, taught and influenced.

Why It Matters: If you've spent time around Claremont's art community, you've probably heard Samella Lewis' name. She spent years teaching at Scripps and helping shape the next generation of artists, and this exhibit brings that story together with the work of people who knew and learned from her

🍽️ Late-night food and drinks

590 W 1st St, Claremont

Mozwell Claremont serves food and drinks late, with the kitchen open until midnight. The menu includes the Southwest chicken salad, quesabirria tacos and burger, churrasco and churros. There’s also a full bar with cocktails, beer and wine.

Wednesday nights bring live jazz, while trivia and taco nights give regulars another reason to stop by. The menu and late hours make it a handy option for dinner after the usual spots have closed.

⚔️ Faith & Leadership

Restoring Generational Masculinity, One Book Study At a Time.

Modern discipleship got reduced to curriculum. The Leadership Course brings back the real thing: brotherhood, mentorship, and older men walking younger men through Scripture and real life. Their goal is 10,000 men through RGM Book Studies. If you're ready to lead or grow, there's a seat for you.

From Spring Break to a Breakthrough

While most are coasting toward summer, The Leadership Course is inviting young men to step into a different kind of season: one built on grit, Scripture, and the quiet strength of the peaks above us.

• A steady, purposeful climb from curiosity to senior-year conviction.
• Blending spiritual depth with the resilience found on an expedition.
• Raising sons who know that the greatest leaders aren't the loudest.

Twenty Years In Real Estate Taught Me This: Strategy Beats Experience.

After more than twenty years in real estate, here's what I've learned: the best decisions come from strategy, not just experience. Selling, inheriting a property, relocating, or buying an investment? You don't need another sales pitch, you need clarity. That's why I created the Real Estate Strategy Center: ninety minutes to build a custom plan around your goals, finances, and timeline.
