There's a rhythm to the foothills corridor that regular readers probably recognize by now. Weekends fill up, local spots earn their loyal crowds, and the four cities have a way of generating more worth-knowing-about than you'd expect from a stretch of suburbs along the 210.

This week's issue has a little of everything: two news stories with real local stakes, a restaurant debate you'll want to weigh in on, a fitness community in San Dimas that people don't seem to want to leave, and a weekend calendar that gives you options no matter which city you're closest to.
Scroll down and take your pick.

🚲 La Verne adopts new e-bike rules

The Gist: La Verne City Council approved the city's first ordinance specifically regulating e-bikes, scooters, and other electric mobility devices. The rules, which take effect July 2, include helmet and lighting requirements, restrictions on where certain e-bikes can be ridden, and penalties for violations.
Why It Matters: Families with kids and teens who ride e-bikes will want to familiarize themselves with the new rules before they take effect. The ordinance changes where some devices can be used and adds new responsibilities for riders, parents, and even local retailers, making it one of the most comprehensive e-bike regulations in the area.
🎓 Free college classes return for Claremont seniors
The Gist: After a lengthy pause, the Claremont Colleges and Claremont Senior Program are bringing back free course auditing for older adults under a new name, Claremont Avenues for Lifelong Learning. Interested participants should register by June 8 to receive a list of available classes and online enrollment instructions. Claremont residents will receive priority.
Why It Matters: Many older adults miss the chance to take college classes simply for the joy of learning. Bringing the program back gives local seniors another way to stay engaged, explore new subjects, and connect with others, all without the pressure or cost of pursuing a degree.

🍗 The sauces deserve their own fan club

At Kao Mun Gai, the menu stays focused and that’s part of the appeal. Tender Hainan chicken, crispy fried chicken, and fragrant rice arrive with an array of sauces that regulars seem to debate as passionately as the chicken itself. Portions are generous, the pickled vegetables and broth round out each meal, and the friendly service keeps things easy.
For many locals, this little spot has become the answer to “What should we do for dinner tonight?”
✨ From Spring Break to a Breakthrough
