Did February just fly by, or is it just us? One minute we were digging out sweaters in the morning, the next we are lingering outside a little longer after lunch, noticing the light sticking around past dinner.
This week’s lineup fits that mood perfectly. Think bright lemony plates at our favorite Greek spot, bikes getting tuned up for longer rides along Foothills, and a certain hometown burger name making moves closer to its roots.

It feels like everyone is ready to get out, try something new, and take a little pride in what is happening right here at home. If your calendar has been looking empty, consider this your friendly nudge to fill it.

🍋 Fresh lemon and spring-ready Greek soul

650 S Grand Ave #101, Glendora, CA
The bright, zesty flavors at Grape Leaf Greek Kouzina are the perfect way to welcome the change in season. Kostas and Venessa run this Grand Avenue spot with a genuine kindness that’s rare to find, serving up recipes that taste like a Sunday in Athens.
The gyro bowls are crisp and vibrant, but the real stars are the lemon potato wedges (savory, tender, and worth the trip alone!) It’s a grounded, flavorful addition to our local dining scene that makes a simple lunch feel like a celebration of heritage.
🌱 Spring is for new growth and steady roots

It’s the perfect season to grounding your son in something that lasts. The Leadership Course is our local four-year forge for raising young men who lead with a servant’s heart.

🍔 Bringing those famous burgers home

The Gist The team behind our favorite Double-Doubles is moving back to its Los Angeles County roots. After years in Orange County, the company recently secured a large space in the San Dimas Corporate Park. This shift brings them closer to Baldwin Park, where the first small stand opened nearly 77 years ago.
Why It Matters As we look forward to sunny afternoons and spring road trips, it is a point of local pride to welcome a true California icon back to our neck of the woods. Additional details regarding the move will be shared on March 2.
🍎 New Composting Milestone at Collins Hall

The Gist Collins Dining Hall just completed its first month of the new semester by composting nearly two tons of food scraps and kitchen waste. This student led initiative, launched by the EcoReps, helps divert waste from landfills while making daily tasks easier for our hardworking dining hall staff. While the program is growing, organizers are currently working to fix confusing bin labels to ensure every scrap ends up in the right place.
Why It Matters Reducing our local footprint preserves the environment we share and shows our collective respect for the people who prepare our meals. New posters are up in the dining hall this week showing waste metrics and utensil usage to help everyone stay informed.
